ACP Reflection
For my ACP I taught Mr. Zeisers’ economics class. During this class I taught the students about
how rappers and hip hop artists spend their money and examples of things we have learned in
class so far. While I was teaching this class I felt good knowing that people were learning more
about the lives of hip hop artists. During the presentation I taught students about how some
former rappers such as Will Smith and MC Hammer went bankrupt during their careers due to
them spending more money than they were making at the time. Will Smith was buying very
expensive luxury cars and he could barely afford to put gas in them when the time came. MC
Hammer was living a glamorous life and he could afford it all at one time but then he started
spending more money than he was making so he had spent it all. The students in the class told
me that they enjoyed the lesson that I had taught at the end. I believe that incorporating hip hop
into school lessons will help students engage and become more interested in what is being taught
in the class. I think the lesson benefitted the students, they now know that hip hop artists have a
budget also and they are still regular people. The students know that they should be smart when
they spend their money and that if you do the right thing and invest in things that it will have a
positive outcome. In the lesson I gave examples of how Jay-z turned his signing bonus (the
money he received when he got signed to his record label) and turned it into much more. Jay-z
took his money started his own shoe and clothing line. Jay-z also invested in the Brooklyn Nets
basketball team and he lost money on his 4.5 million dollar share. I gave an example of a
horizontal merger and I think that giving examples of things that the students know a lot about or
that they are interested in helped them understand the subject a little better. I think that the
examples of horizontal and vertical mergers that I gave were good and that the students
understood the terms better. I think that Mr. Zeiser does an excellent job teaching class but
adding hip hop examples and situations into the lesson gave it an extra push and helped the
students understand better.
Panel reflection #1
Panel said that my topic was too broad and they said that it should be on Hip Hop music instead of music in general. Panel said that my essential question was good and I knew a lot on my topic. They said they I still had some research to do but I was on the right track. I agreed with them and i felt as though i was ready to go and do my research and start my project.
Panel reflection #2
During this meeting with panel they said that they thought my paper was plagiarized but they told me that I needed to site my sources. Panel also told me that I knew a lot of information but I also need to do a lot more research on my topic. Panel said that other than the sources I am doing good.
